'Cheemo Fantasma', Mayan translation of 'Ghost Ship'.
Catalysed by a splendid donation of the awesome Playmobil ship, this work originally grew from playing around with various parts left over from a deconstructed vacuum cleaner, some buggy wheels ,and pieces from a toy woodworking set amongst other things. Following on from an underlying theme of nautical adventures and legends, there have been many references to abandoned, haunted or lost ships in my work as a lot of material comes from coastal areas where the power of the sea is ever evident. Now, after revisiting the original sculpture I have added added a lot of new components, especially selected to create a fantasy based on historical events, imagined in a alternate future where revenge is taken from a parallel universe...
