This sculpture follows a theme in my larger works, having been dissembled then reconstructed from all the parts of the original build. Occasionally parts have been cut, punctured or folded, with the occasional fixing, but nothing has been left out.
The Dyson range is a fascinating piece of industrial design technology with beautiful hidden forms within its casing, and it is exciting to rediscover and use them. This Dyson DC03 was a 1997 model developed from the original upright hoover that revolutionised hoovering in the 1980s.
This particular model was found in North London on a street corner in February 2017.
DysonDC03sect is currently at the Royal Academy, having been shortlisted for the Summer Exhibition 2022.
