There seem to be a lot of lollipops consumed around the world, and theres no shortage of them on the beaches of Italy, reaching right across to the west coast of Sardinia. This first collection came from a 3 week trip to the island in 2013.
These pop sticks float and travel very well, and due to the UV action of sunlight and the effects of the sea water, the range of colour expands exponentially until each pop stick is soon unique in colour and tone. This is the fascination with collecting objects that were once identical, now individuals with the scars of their individual journeys.
Update, April 2019, I sadly suspect that these these popsticks are actually cotton bud sticks as they have crimped areas at both ends not just one to hold a sweet - oh well, it was great while it lasted!
